Bison Offers Inverter Duty Gearmotors 1/1/2005 - BISON’S INVERTER DUTY GEARMOTORS A group of inverter-duty variable-speed constant torque AC gearmotors for conveyors and similar applications is part of the Bison line. The eight new configurations augment the extensive Bison line of fractional horsepower gearmotors, motors, and reducers for the global market. The variable speed gearmotors are rated from 2 rpm to 30 rpm at 6 Hz and from 26 rpm to 437 rpm at 90 Hz. They are available as ¼ HP models in the Bison 200 and 650 Series and as ½ HP models in the Bison 400 and 650 Series. Using variable frequency inverter drives; the motors offer constant torque from 6 Hz to 60 Hz input, and constant horsepower 60 Hz to 90Hz. The totally enclosed fan-cooled reversible motors are 3 phase 230V 50/60 Hz units. They are designed to accept an optional external brake. The Class F insulation system is rated to155° C and signal type thermostats protect each phase when used with an appropriate inverter drive control. Products: Designed and built to AGMA Class 9 gearing standards, they feature the high torque/size/cost ratios on which Bison has built its reputation, along with stronger gears and sturdier housings than are characteristic of the competition. Gear ratios range from 6:1 to 89.75:1. Torque ratings range form 92 to 941 in. lbs. at 6 or 60 Hz, dropping to 59 to 627 in. lbs. at 90 Hz. The geartrains will handle up to 2005 in-lbs shock loading. They may be mounted in any position. Design features include lifetime oil bath lubrication, needle/thrust bearing support, and precision ground shaft seal diameters.
